Student Loan Changes
“Always great customer service with OSLA. I’m disappointed one of my loans was transferred to the Department of Education. The Department of Education is not at all friendly or competent.”
While OSLA is pleased with this compliment from an OSLA borrower on a customer service survey recently, it brings up an issue that will possibly affect your student loan. OSLA sold loans in 2009 to the Department of Education (if your loan/s was affected, you were notified via letter). In prior years, OSLA retained the loans and serviced them throughout their lives. However, this year it was necessary to sell them to provide us with funding to continue to make new loans. Unfortunately, the current credit markets may necessitate OSLA’s need to sell loans to the ED in the future, but we are hopeful that we can return to servicing the loans throughout their lives. We regret that the ED has not yet matched OSLA’s level of customer service.
